HOW TO REACH LUCCA

If you arrive late or have special transport requirements and you prefer not to use the transport which the organization offers there are various ways of reaching the city. If this is the case, please indicate this on the form.


From PISA:

The nearest airport to Lucca is Pisa International Airport: the Airport is 1 km far from Pisa Central Station. From the station, it is possible to reach every destination of the Italian rail network.

Since march 2017, the new connection Pisa Move, less than 40 meters from the passenger terminal, has been activated. It directly connects the Airport to the Central Station, every 5-8 minutes and from 6 am to 12 pm.

Trains to Lucca depart at Pisa Central Station. Details about timetables and frequency are available on the Trenitalia website  http://www.trenitalia.com/ and on Google Transit:  direct trains are Regionale trains. The journey is a little over 30 minutes by train. Prices are from €3.30.

Taxi: from the airport there is also a taxi connection to Lucca with the Co.ta.Pi Taxi Company http://www.cotapi.it/en/. The journey by car from Pisa to Lucca would take about 30 minutes.

Bus travel from Pisa to Lucca is provided by  VAI Bus and  details about lines and timing are available on the dedicated website http://www.lucca.cttnord.it/  or on Google Transit.

 

From FLORENCE

The easiest way to reach Lucca from Florence Airport is by taxi. You can catch a taxi from just outside the airport: tel. number 0554242 – 055 4390 – 055 4798.

The first alternative is to take a city line bus to the  Santa Maria Novella Station,  in order to catch a connecting train to Lucca.

A bus leaves approximately every 30 minutes from the airport and you can find more information at the following websites:

The second alternative to get to Lucca is to take an “VAI BUS” interurban bus; the bus stop can be found immediately next to the airport and you can check the schedule of the connections on the following website:  www.vaibus.it. The journey will take approximately one hour and forty-five minutes.

From the Central Station of Santa Maria Novella you can easily find connecting trains to Lucca: the journey could take one hour and a half to arrive to Lucca’s station and timetables and prices can be found on Trenitalia website.
